We'd eaten Lunch at the English Bakery around 2 years ago, so this year whilst in Gran Canaria we thought we'd try it for Breakfast.
It offered a good value... read more for money breakfast in regards to size, however everything on the plate was so oily.
Personally, in our opinion, we are yet to find anyone to find in the Yumbo area who can offer a better breakfast than the red cow just over the road.
Ate here 3/4 times during my stay in Gran Canaria. Served mainly by a guy called Sean who was very friendly and happy for us to change any ingredients in... read more the omelettes etc which was great! Very reasonably priced. Only let down was I think they could do with another server around midday as 2 times it was incredibly busy and almost too much for one waiter to handle which meant a little bit more of a wait on food and drink etc. Seemed to annoy a couple of people on nearby tables but we were happy to wait for great food.
Myself and my fiancé Mark cannot rate this place higher! Steve and Jay are fantastic, gave us such a warm welcome and couldn’t do more! We will absolutely be back... read more again.

Drinks reasonably priced, two large beers for €5 and two Smirnoff/blue wkd for €5.
Only minor point is it’s cash only at the moment but there’s 3 banks above it. Be careful with Santander as they charge a commission. We used BancoMarch as no commission.
We will be coming back to try the breakfast and burgers.
This is definitely the cafe I would return to in Maspalomas - for the great food, coffee and definitely the staff too! The food is excellent - and I'm not... read more English! The breakfasts are incredible - eggs, bacon and this weird pastry "Yorkshire Pudding". They also do AMAZING burgers!!! I am being completely honest - the burger was the best I have ever had. Really. It must be tried to be believed.
The team at the English Bakery Cafe were like family to me. Staff and customers all mingle and chat happily - like everyone belongs. It's sooooo difficult to find this in a holiday town. Initially I went there for the food and coffee (which is excellent too) but then realised that I was actually returning to catch up with everyone. It really made Maspalomas feel like a home for me.
You will have really missed out if you don't visit the guys at the English Bakery during your stay.

After my husband read the reviews, he booked for Christmas Dinner with the owner and payed 50% up front. When we arrived it was full. We ended up waiting three... read more hours for food, if you could call it food. There was five of us and...the food was atrocious. Frozen veg one slice frozen turkey, prawn cocktail starter was smallest bowl filled with Marie rose sauce and one shrimp, we didn't even get a pudding. All the staff were totally inebriated. Talk about Faulty Towers. One waiter we called gascon, fell backwards on the floor. A customer said he'd fainted with embarrassment. Another customer ran off to burger King. After paying a lot of money for inedible food and terrible service. Don't go. All those who wrote how good it is, well I don't know. In fact it was the worst food never mind Christmas Dinner we have ever had. More

They came with chips, and I mean chips, not those bloody French fries, that most places sell as chips. But hand cut proper chips.
Good freindy banter from the staff, good beer, an all round nice evening. I would deffiently recomend. And we will be back
Recently attended an event here and had a great experience. Both the food and service was top class and Sean was great to chat to.

On... read more this particular visit we had 2 full English breakfasts and they were so tasty, better than the ones we get back home in London. Looking forward to going back later this week for afternoon tea with scones, cream and jam.
Genuinely the best food you will find at Yumbo by far !!
We had the British chippy menu and it’s better than a UK chippy. Home made chips, proper sausage,... read more chicken breast (cooked to perfection) and topped with curry sauce.
Staff are attentive, friendly and the standard of hygiene is exemplary!
This is a gem that’s not yet exploded on the island. Try once and I guarantee you will be regular.

Five of us arrived at 16:30 as expected, and have to... read more sit around a tiny cable reed, not even a descent table. I am French and it is difficult to explain how things could go that wrong. Food was just disgusting apart from the carrot soup (very small portion though) service was a disgrace. More than four hours to get an awful Christmas lunch. Never ever again. This is just robbery! What this place need is a proper manager and if you can’t deal with an event like this.don’t do it. We use to go there for English breakfast and sconesnot anymore.

Best place by far around Yumbo to spend your mid-morning, just sitting, chilling, talking or reading.
I was there with four other friends on Christmas day.. It was a comedy of errors from start to finish... There should of been a 6th person with us.. But... read more he was working for them the only waiter seating people serving drinks and food. The...one and only barman then had to start serving food. On arrival we were served a complimentary cava in a half pint glass, they had run out of glasses, about an hour later we had our starter 2 has soup and a roll and the other three had prawn cocktail, if you could call it that, lettuce 4 prawns 2 cherry tomatoes and a teaspoon of sauce.... 3 and a quarter hours later we had managed to get 1 other drink and no main meal... I spoke to Steve the owner and told him we were leaving and would speak to him the next day, which I did was told we would have a full refund... It never happened. Instead the waiter my friend who worked on the day was hounded and threatened to the point he was paid no wages and paid the rest of the balance.... It was an absolutely diabolical and expensive starter.... Avoid them like the plague. More
Terrible service waited for sausage sandwich sausages were not cooked well not for me and had to wait a while for it
Deciding to escape Winter lockdown, we booked two weeks in Gran Canaria over Christmas and had booked the dinner ahead of time. So, wanting to check out the place beforehand,... read more we made a couple of visits ahead of Christmas day and were never disappointed. The menu is expansive and the service is friendly, with minor changes to orders no problem, but the star of the show is the food. Sausage rolls are bloody gorgeous, the sandwiches always tasty, the home-made pies just incredible. So, we had no doubts about our first Christmas eating at a restaurant, as well as eating outside!
There were two sittings for dinner, 1pm and 4pm and it was definitely the right choice to take the later time. The previous diners were almost all still there, enjoying themselves and unfortunately had to move on as the tables were cleared and we could take our places. Everyone had made their orders in advance, but everyone was asked if they had any last-minute changes they'd like to make, which was a nice touch. We began to drink as we waited for our meal. It took a little while, but the entire place was served each course at almost the same time, a massive feat of organisation and everything was hot and delicious.
With no sitting after us, we were free to take our time, enjoying the three courses as well as the wine until dusk and gone, finally leaving full and merry. A very different kind of Christmas to what I'm used to, but thoroughly enjoyable. We of course made sure to revisit in the few days afterwards before flying home to the cold and it will be the first place we return to when we do go back.
We have been here a number of times, nice break on the way back from shopping at Lidl. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. We usually... read more order a number of sausage rolls, slices and deep fill pies to take away as we have builders in and both we and the builders like them. Also stop for a cupcake and a drink while the order is being put together. They also offer a delivery service which was good as my house is difficult to find. Note this place can be difficult to find the first time, best to come from Lidl, find the Eurocentre which is the one with the big 'Secondhand store' sign, walk up to the top of the hill and go in from there and its signposted from that point.
